Mock trade the Detroit Pistons should run away from
The Detroit Pistons need the kind of wholesale change that is not going to come with one move.
But after a 21-game losing streak and counting, something needs to happen, whether it is someone in the front office losing their job or a shake-up of a roster that is the most dysfunctional in the NBA.
At this point, fans would settle for some sign that Tom Gores and Troy Weaver are paying attention, as they've had nothing to say as the team continues to disappear deeper into the abyss.
But fans should be careful what they wish for when it comes to change.
A desperate GM is a dangerous thing for the Detroit Pistons
There is nothing more dangerous to the health of an NBA franchise than a desperate GM looking to keep a job. We saw the results when Stan Van Gundy (with enthusiastic approval from Tom Gores) traded for Blake Griffin, giving up a largess of assets in exchange for one year and a first-round playoff sweep.
In their defense, Griffin was the team's last All-Star and even making the playoffs seems like a far-off dream that happened to someone else at this point.
Yes, Detroit needs to do something, as you can't carry on like this, but it's risky to allow Troy Weaver to be the one doing the dealing given his history with trades and the relative temperature of his seat.
A recent proposed trade shows exactly how things can get even worse for the Detroit Pistons.
