Will the Detroit Pistons trade Jaden Ivey?

We've talked a great deal about the four young players for the Pistons and whether they are a fit. Currently, they are not, as three of them can't shoot, so finding Cade Cunningham a wing who can knock down 3-point shots should be a priority even if that means trading one of Jaden Ivey or Jalen Duren to get it.

The Pistons may build a trade package around Jaden Ivey to find a wing, in which case, drafting another guard makes more sense if you think he is the best player available. Regardless of fit, the Pistons do need stars.

But another undersized combo guard? I don't see it, even if the Pistons do trade Ivey. There is already solid evidence that Troy Weaver made a huge mistake by trading up to take Marcus Sasser when the team desperately needed size and help on the wing.

So taking another undersized combo guard, even one with a much higher ceiling, defies logic. But then again, these are the Pistons we are talking about.

Even if you think Dillingham will be better than Ivey, they are similar players, though Dillingham is already a better long-range shooter. It doesn't make much sense to trade one out for the other unless other moves are coming.

This puts the Pistons in an interesting position, as what will they do if they think the best player on the board is a guard? Would they really add another one to the mix?

Stay tuned.
