NBA Mock Draft: One prospect "reach" for every lottery team

#7: San Antonio Spurs select Reed Sheppard 

The Spurs need a point guard, but if Nikola Topic is already taken, they may have to settle for a combo guard who may be able to evolve into a lead guard role, which is what they will get with Sheppard. 

Sheppard can shoot the lights out and defend, so it’s not necessarily a reach to take him in the top-10, but it is if you plan for him to be your full-time point guard, as he needs to improve as a ballhandler and show that he can handle being defended by bigger guys. 

Sheppard’s performance in the NCAA Tournament may also raise some questions about how ready he is to join the NBA right now, so with some intriguing wing prospects still on the board, he’d be a bit of reach for the Spurs here, who need talent all over.
