The Detroit Pistons have no shortage of options with the 5th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Many mock drafts have the Pistons taking big wing Matas Buzelis, while others have them going against the grain and taking a shooter.

But Detroit could also trade the pick for a proven player, an option they will have to consider, as they need to improve, already have plenty of young players and this draft is considered to be light with star talent.

That’s what happens in this NBA Mock Draft, where an uncertain pool of players leads to multiple trades in the lottery.

NBA Mock Draft with trades: Pistons, Wizards, Rockets and Bulls make bold moves

#1: Atlanta Hawks select Alex Sarr

The Hawks are certainly one of the teams that could make a flurry of moves around the NBA Draft, as they want to break up their backcourt and could look to package this pick to bring a star or several better fitting players to put around Trae Young.

The Pistons have been named in possible trades with the Hawks, but in this mock, they go with versatile big man Alex Sarr, whose dynamic game would be a nice fit with Young and potentially allow the Hawks to move on from Clint Capela.

One of the big questions of this draft is whether any team actually wants to pay the salary slot of this year’s #1 pick, so the Hawks may not find as many possible takers as they would in a stronger draft.
