The "hmmmm" options: Nickeil Alexander-Walker, 2nd-round picks

If the Timberwolves wanted to deal two-way guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker for Morris, the Pistons should do it. I've been a fan of NAW's going back to my days of covering the Pelicans. He's a good defender who can get hot and knock down some 3-point shots. Think of him like a Kentavious Caldwell-Pope-light.

But he's playing big minutes for Minnesota off the bench, so it's hard to see them giving him up for Morris, though Morris is a better 3-point shooter.

Minnesota is built around defense, allowing the fewest points per game in the NBA, so I'm not sure they'd want to lose one of their better bench defenders, though Morris isn't a complete pushover on that end either.

Trading Monte Morris for 2nd-round picks

This would be the most likely option, and one the Pistons should probably pass on. They gave up one second-round pick for taking on Morris in the first place, so they could recoup that, which is hardly much motivation. I'd rather have Morris, especially if he is willing to sign a team-friendly deal to stick around.

But could the Pistons pry away an asset that would be worth it?
