The NBA trade deadline is shaping up to be a big one for the Detroit Pistons one way or another.

They could make a big splash as a buyer or just sell off veterans and expiring contracts for future assets or players who are better fits.

Their most coveted player is Bojan Bogdanovic, who is still a consistent 20+ ppg scorer who can knock down 3-point shots. He's also on a team-friendly deal that can be bought out for $2 million next season, making him more attractive to teams that don't want to take on long-term money.

Most recently, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reported that the Knicks have expressed interest in Bogdanovic. I've long said that the Knicks were one of the best homes for Bojan, as they need his services and also have multiple first-round picks in 2024, including the one Detroit owes them.

Getting that pick back would be a coup for the Pistons, as it would allow them to include the pick and others in future trades, something they are prevented from doing now due to the restrictions.

But could they pick up another asset in the process?

The Knicks not only have a pick to send the Pistons, but they have a few nice young players and an expiring contract to help make the money match.

Fournier would just be to make the money work, so this deal would be about Quentin Grimes and a 1st-round pick.

I've already discussed the advantages of acquiring another pick in 2024, as it's a weak draft and if the Pistons could package what will almost certainly be a top-5 pick with one of their young players, they might be able to make a deal that moves the needle.

But Grimes would be a nice pickup in this deal as well, as he's a very good defender who is shooting nearly 40 percent from long range himself, which is why I have my doubts that the Knicks would include him in such a deal, at least not while Tom Thibodeau draws breath.

Even without Grimes included in the deal, it still might be of interest to the Pistons, who would then be able to trade both their 2024 and 2026 picks in a larger deal.

The Knicks are definitely a team to watch as the deadline approaches and may have the right combination to get the Pistons to finally trade Bojan Bogdanovic.
