#7: Josh Smith

Smith was a player who had guided the Atlanta Hawks to the players a bunch of times as one of the better two-way wings in the league, but that all changed when he joined the Detroit Pistons.

After accepting a massive free-agent deal that turned out to be one of the worst of all time for the Pistons, Smith was never the same player.

He wasn’t in great shape.

He never seemed to care if the Pistons won, maybe that is just perception, but he continued to jack horrible shots the entire time he was in Detroit and never bought into what they were doing.

To be fair, no one knew what the Pistons were doing when they signed Smith to a team that was already being built around two bigs who couldn’t shoot. That’s not on Smith, who may have been tasked with changing his game to better suit his teammates.

It didn’t work and the Pistons eventually had to cut Smith and eat the rest of his contract after so many bricks they could have built another Palace.
