Pistons odds to receive No. 1 overall pick in 2024 NBA Draft (Detroit tied as favorites for top spot)
There’s a potential guiding light to the Pistons’ lackluster season that will result in Detroit missing the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.
The Pistons lost an NBA-record 28 games earlier this season and (barring a winning streak to end the regular season) will finish with its worst record in franchise history. However, that gives Detroit a solid chance to lead off the NBA Draft this June at Barclays Center.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Pistons, which currently own the NBA’s worst record (13-66), are one of the favorites to win the NBA Lottery and grab the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft.
Detroit, Washington, and Charlotte, according to FanDuel, have the best odds at the top pick at +550, which carries an implied probability of 15.27% that Detroit will pick first in the draft for the second time in four seasons. The San Antonio Spurs (+600) and Portland Trail Blazers (+700) are also within striking distance.
Pistons Draft Odds
Detroit used the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft to select Cade Cunningham out of Oklahoma State. Cunningham is proving to be the focal point of the Pistons’ rebuild as the guard is averaging a team-high 22.7 points per game this season.
The Pistons last got the No. 2 overall pick in 2003, famously taking Darko Milicic one spot after LeBron James and right before Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade.
