Detroit might have a dubious one-game lead over the Washington Wizards for the worst record in the NBA, but the Pistons haven’t been playing like it. Despite a six-game losing streak, Detroit has opened the second half of the regular season with a loss to Indiana, followed by close defeats to the Magic (112-109) and Knicks (113-111).
Detroit is getting double digits again on Tuesday night in its trip to the United Center to face the Bulls.
Chicago, firmly in the Play-In Tournament situation at No. 9 in the Eastern Conference, is coming off a 114-106 road win over New Orleans but has dropped three of its last four home games. Can they pull away from the lowly Pistons on Tuesday?
Here’s the betting preview for the conference clash with a best bet.

Pistons vs. Bulls key players to watch
Pistons
Cade Cunningham: The former No. 1 overall pick continues to be a bright spot for the Pistons and their rebuild. Cunningham is 25th in the NBA in scoring at 22.4 points per game and has scored 30-plus in two of three games following the All-Star break. Cunningham is shooting 34-of-60 (56.7%) from the field and 13-of-23 (56.5%) from beyond the arc during that stretch with 12 rebounds and 12 assists.
Bulls
Ayo Dosunmu: The second-round pick from Illinois continues to dish it out, tallying a season-high eight assists in back-to-back games. He’s elevated his game as a scorer, too, averaging 16.1 points per game in February (10.4 this season). Dosunmu has poured in 20-plus in two of the last four games and is coming off a 21-point night in Sunday’s win over New Orleans.
Pistons vs. Bulls prediction and pick
Does Chicago have an offense to trust laying such a big number? February has been brutal to the Bulls from an injury standpoint with Zach LaVine and Patrick Williams, a duo that combines to average 29.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game this season, each needing season-ending surgery.
The Bulls are No. 25 in the NBA in scoring (No. 24 at home) and No. 21 in offensive rating. Yes, the matchup is great against a Pistons’ defense that is last in the NBA in net rating, but have put up just 110.5 points per game in two matchups with Detroit this season (1-1).
Detroit is used to being the big underdog and has thrived in it as of late. The Pistons have covered in five of their last eight games and are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 contests as a double-digit underdog. Chicago is laying double figures for the first time all season and doesn't have the firepower to pull away from a Pistons team that just went toe-to-toe with two Eastern Conference playoff teams. Back Detroit on the road.
