The Detroit Pistons need to sign a veteran point guard

Detroit will still feature a young backcourt next season, so bringing in a fairly cheap veteran backup should also be on the to-do list.

Is a reunion with Monte Morris possible? I would say yes, as he wants to be in Detroit and fits the profile of what they will need depending on his price and how he performs in the playoffs this season.

But they should look for a guy who shoot a little and doesn’t turn the ball over.

Final roster

If the Pistons do it right, they can rebuild around their young core on the fly and be competitive next season with a roster that looks something like this:

-Cade Cunningham/Marcus Sasser/Monte Morris

-Jaden Ivey/ Quentin Grimes

-Ausar Thompson/ Simone Fontecchio

-Obi Toppin/Isaiah Stewart

-Jalen Duren/Mo Bamba/Mike Muscala

This team is athletic, can mix and match shooters with defenders, has fewer one-way players and more depth. You can argue about the lineups and configuration, but if the Pistons were to pull off something like this, they should at least be competitive in the Eastern Conference next season.

They have a lot of work to do in the offseason, with nine roster spots opening up, so stay tuned, as this is going to be a wild ride over the next several months.
