Trade #2: Projects to the Pistons

I find it hard to believe that any team is going to give up a first-round pick for either Bojan Bogdanovic or Alec Burks, so the best the Pistons can do is flip one of them for a project.

Burks for JHS and Cam Reddish

Why the Pistons would do it

It would allow them to take a flyer on two wings in exchange for a guy who likely won't be on the roster next season. Hood-Schifino, in particular, has some nice intangibles and is a good defender, so could likely find a place in the Pistons' rotation at some point. Reddish is a throw-in to make the money work but he'd give the Pistons another young wing to take a chance on.

Getting the 17th pick from last year's draft for Burks would be a win for the Pistons. Taking on an extra year of Reddish wouldn't be great, but he's on a league minimum, so it wouldn't matter much.

Why the Lakers would do it

This might be too much for Burks, who has only recently started shooting the ball well again. But these two players aren't giving the Lakers anything, especially JHS, who isn't even in the rotation.

The Lakers are going for it now and don't have time or minutes to develop a late first-round pick. Burks gives them a shooter they can plug into their rotation right away, and he's also an expiring contract, so the Lakers would pick up $10 million in cap space and rid themselves of the final year of Reddish's contract.
