The Detroit Pistons are the only team in the NBA with cap space and they are waiting to use it in a trade.
This is the point of the offseason when teams start to get desperate, realizing that they haven’t done enough to keep up with their rivals.
One such team is the LA Lakers, who have two of the best players in the league in LeBron and Anthony Davis, but have painfully little depth around them and a championship window that is barely cracked and closing quickly.
The Lakers also have few ways to get the talent they need, as they are in a precarious cap situation and can’t take back any more money than they send out.
A trade is really the only way they can improve and Bleacher Report suggested a load of them in a recent article, including a possible target on the Detroit Pistons.
Trading Isaiah Stewart to the LA Lakers
Aside from the fact that he once tried to murder LeBron, Isaiah Stewart is a great fit on the Lakers.
He can provide toughness, rebounding and defense next to Anthony Davis as well as a guy who can hit shots off the ball, a must if you are going to play with LeBron.
This was just speculation on the part of B/R, as Stewart hasn’t been in trade rumors since early in the offseason and there is no indication that Trajan Langdon has any interest in moving him.
But there is the fact that Langdon didn’t draft Stewart and wasn't the one who gave him an extension, though there were rumors that New Orleans (where Langdon was GM) was interested in Stewart at one point.
He’s a quality role player on a decent contract (it’s not great when you look at games played), who is a nice fit on the Lakers, but what would a trade look like?
