Detroit Pistons trade draft picks to the Golden State Warriors for Draymond Green
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen it suggested that the Detroit Pistons pursue Draymond Green, this time Bleacher Report named him as an “ambitious” trade target for Detroit.
“Ambitious” would be one way to put it.
The article suggests the Pistons could trade “picks” in exchange for absorbing the three years left on Draymond Green’s contract.
I have a couple of problems with this right away, namely that the Pistons don’t have “picks” to trade, as they are not giving up the 5th pick for Green and can’t trade future picks until well down the road due to the one they still somehow owe the Knicks.
I also have my doubts that Golden State has any interest in trading Green. They are trying to maximize the remaining Stephen Curry years and whether you like him or not, it will be difficult for them to find a player who helps them more than Green.
If the Pistons were to pursue a Warrior, wouldn’t the more likely candidate (for both teams) be Andrew Wiggins? He’s a better fit in Detroit and is actually making more money than Green over the next three years.
But I will play along and look at the pros and cons of trading for Draymond Green.
