5 Random Detroit Pistons' predictions for the 2nd half of the season
Ausar Thompson will make the All-Rookie 2nd team
Thompson was rolling at the beginning of the season and looked as though he might dip his toe into the Rookie of the Year race, though that has become a two-man competition between Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren.
Thompson was putting up gaudy all-around numbers until super genius coach Monty Williams put a stop to that by cutting his minutes for Isaiah Freaking Livers, who is one of the worst players in the league and can't even get off the bench for the stinking Wizards. Good call, coach!
But now that Livers has been dealt, Ausar has been getting more minutes and making the most of them. He was on the floor for much of clutch time in the last game and is getting more opportunities with better floor spreaders around him, which should continue with Monte Morris back.
It won't be enough to get him on the first team, but Ausar should make the 2nd and give the Pistons at least one player on the All-Rookie team for the 4th straight season. It's just too bad it hasn't translated into any wins.
