Run away screaming: Trade for another guard

Luckily, these rumors are all but dead after the smoke around Dejounte Murray died down and Zach LaVine announced his season was ending with another surgery.

But I still had readers telling me the Pistons should trade for LaVine anyway, even though he'll be out for the next six months at least.

Excuse me?!?

It doesn't matter how cheap the price to attain him is (even if the Bulls add incentive), trading for a player who just had season-ending surgery and is no guarantee to ever return to form would be the height of lunacy unless the Bulls were adding 2-3 unprotected first-round picks as an incentive, which they are not.

Even if Killian Hayes and Alec Burks are dealt at the trade deadline, the Pistons still have four guards, three of whom are under contract for next season. There is also a possibility of a reunion with Monte Morris, so the Pistons don't need to trade for any more guards.

They need two-way wings, forwards and big men who can protect the rim, not guards.

Given these options, it's easy to see why this could be a quiet deadline for the Pistons, though I still wouldn't rule out a big move that has flown under the radar.
