Trae Young

I realize the NBA is in the midst of an offensive explosion, but I never thought I'd see the day when averaging 27.3 points and 10.9 assists per game fails to garner an All-Star selection, but that is what happened to Trae Young.

He's putting up better numbers than he did last season when he was an All-Star, and his counting stats are on par or better than any of the guards that were selected.

But the Hawks are extraordinarily mediocre again and voters seemed to have penalized Young for this, as Tyrese Haliburton, Damian Lillard, Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Brunson and Donovan Mitchell are all on better teams. You could certainly make an argument against Lillard, especially as a starter, as his numbers are quantifiably worse than the other guards, including Young. But he has the rep, has hit some big shots and is on the 2nd-best team in the East.

Young was penalized for the same thing Cade Cunningham was, which is putting up big stats on a team that doesn't win much, but with everyone on this list also putting up monster numbers, it's a fair way to tip the scales.

Young is 2nd in the NBA in assists per game and 10th in points per game, but will be watching the All-Star game from home.
