The Pistons trade for Trey Murphy III: Unrealistic

I do think there is a world where the Pistons could trade for a wing from the New Orleans Pelicans, but it’s not going to be Trey Murphy III. The Pelicans could face some cap issues this summer, but if they are going to trade one of their wings, it’s far more likely it will be Brandon Ingram, not TMIII.

Zach Lowe thinks TMIII has to start next season and intimated that he is already better than Ingram. I don’t know if that’s true, but you can certainly argue TMIII is a better fit with Zion. He’s also younger and about to get extended on a deal that will be cheaper than Ingram’s next one, as BI will be an unrestricted free agent after next season. I’d love Murphy III, but it isn't happening.

Trade Isaiah Stewart for Alex Caruso: Unrealistic

I’m not saying this couldn't happen, as a deal like this is in the realm of possibility if the Bulls want to rebuild. The problem is that they will want more for a first-team All-Defensive player than Stewart, who is not only a worse player but will make more money than Caruso next season. Stewart might be the starter for a deal for Caruso, but if the Bulls are blowing it up, they’d probably prefer a first-round pick or a guy with more upside. Not a terrible idea, but the Pistons would have to kick in more.
