If you have followed the Detroit Pistons during this four-year odyssey of losing, then you know one thing hasn't changed and that's the terrible 3-point shooting.

After making some minimal progress in that area last season, the Pistons have regressed in this one and are once again one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the league.

The Pistons are currently 27th overall in 3-point percentage, 28th in 3-point makes per game and 28th in attempts. They only have one player on the roster shooting over 40 percent from long range, Kevin Knox, who has barely played.

And it shows, as the Pistons have horrible spacing in the half-court, Cade Cunningham is playing in a phone booth and Detroit is the easiest team in the NBA to defend.

The best teams are making around six more 3-point shots per game than Detroit, a big reason they are mired in a 20-game losing streak. Even when the Pistons shoot well from the floor overall, as they did in the last loss against Indiana, the 3-point disparity is usually the difference.

The Pistons shot virtually the same percentage from the floor as the Pacers overall and shot 11 more free throws than Indiana, but still lost because the Pacers hit more 3's.

The Pistons not only need guys who hit a high percentage but who take a high volume, as they don't shoot or make enough three-point shots to compete against a good NBA team right now.

Here are five future unrestricted free agents who shoot and make enough 3's to get a defense's attention.

Mike Conley

Mike Conley is 36 years old, but he is still getting it done for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Conley would fill two roles for the Pistons, who not only need shooting but a surehanded veteran point guard.

Conley is shooting just under 43 percent from long range on over five attempts per game and his 6:1 assist-to-turnover ratio is one of the best in the NBA.

At this point in his career, Conley is chasing playoff success and is currently on the NBA-leading Timberwolves, so it's doubtful he would choose the Pistons in free agency, but I'd at least pick up the phone and see what it would take.

He'd be a great veteran leader for the young guards and Conley can still fill it up from long range.
