Bradley Beal

Speaking of teams that need to get out from a big contract, I give you the Phoenix Suns and Bradley Beal, who has one of the most onerous contracts in the NBA.

If the Suns flame out in the playoffs (or the play-in) they will almost have to shake up one of the league's most expensive rosters, as they owe $150 million to just three guys next season, including a whopping $50.2 million to Beal.

Beal has three seasons remaining on his deal at $50, 53, and 57 million, steep for a player who is no longer a max guy. But he's still getting 17 a game while shooting over 41 percent from long-range as the third option for Phoenix, so Beal can still get buckets.

But he's also 30 years old and has missed a ton of games over the last five seasons since playing in all 82 games two years in a row.

If the Suns end up trying to deal Beal, you have to wonder what they would want in exchange, as his contract is preventing them from making meaningful moves around Durant and Booker and paying this much for a 7th seed wasn't what Phoenix had in mind.

Even though the Detroit Pistons have cap space, Beal would be a tough contract to take on with extensions for Cade Cunningham and the other young players looming, but what if Detroit could get him for nothing but cap space, would he be worth it?

All of these players carry risk because of their contracts and production, but if the Detroit Pistons can't find help elsewhere, cap casualties may be an option.
