2008: “Low” by Flo Rida and T Pain 

This was the song that started this whole exercise, as I referenced it in an article once and it got me thinking what other #1 songs in notable years might be. The Pistons hadn’t come close to hitting their “low” yet but this was the official end of the “Goin to Work” era and the run of sustained success that came with it. 

The Pistons were beaten by the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, the 3rd year in a row they would lose the series before the Finals. 

We didn’t know it yet, but this would pretty much be the last time the Pistons were good, as this was the last year they won a playoff game, a drought that is the longest in the NBA. We were “low” as things fell apart but had no idea how low things could really go.
