2017 NBA Draft: Pistons select Luke Kennard 12th and Donovan Mitchell goes 13th

This might be the worst one on the list other than Darko and is part of Detroit's recent Holy Trinity of draft misses, as the Pistons selected role player Luke Kennard one pick before superstar Donovan Mitchell, who not only thought Detroit was going to select him but was excited about the possibility.

Kennard is one of the best shooters in the NBA, but he gets hurt a lot and can’t guard a traffic cone. Mitchell, meanwhile, has been an All-Star for the last five seasons and has made the playoffs every year of his career. Oops.

The worst part about this one is that the Pistons needed a two-guard but reached for need over talent because Stan Van Gundy wanted a shooter. They got their shooter while Utah got one of the best shooting guards in the NBA.

There have been plenty of tough misses for the Detroit Pistons in the draft, but it makes it even worse when the guy you needed was taken with the next pick.
