Denver Nuggets: Michael Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon

The Nuggets are in a tough spot, as they are trying to maximize the window of one of the greatest players of all time but do it while spending as little money as possible, which is why they had to let Kentavious Caldwell-Pope go this offseason, a loss that they will feel.

Denver was stung by another when DaRon Holmes went down for the season in his first Summer League game, cutting into their depth even more.

At some point, the Nuggets may have to sell off a star player to improve their overall roster quality. With only one guaranteed year left on his deal, Aaron Gordon might be the most likely, but trading Michael Porter Jr., would get them a fair haul and he’s making more money.

MPJ falls into that category of “very good, not great” that teams with other max deals may try to jettison after the new CBA made the penalties for hitting the aprons more punitive.

This is where Tobias Harris could be the perfect contract, as he’ll still be good enough to contribute to a playoff team, but isn’t making as much and will be expiring after this season. Package that contract with a young player and/or draft pick and you have the makings of a trade.
