The Detroit Pistons tipped off training camp this week after holding a media day that was full of the same old stuff.

Every player added multiple moves to their bag, is in the best shape of their life and is committed to bringing back “Detroit Basketball,” stop me if you’ve heard this one before.

It’s difficult to get excited when we’ve heard this tune for the last five seasons only to watch the team be terrible once the games started. Hopefully, this will finally be the year that the veteran additions actually help the young players get better, resulting in some wins and a competitive team.

You can get your first look at them live at the annual practice that will again be open to the public. Here is all of the information you need.

When is Pistons open practice?

The Pistons practice will be open to the public on Saturday October 5th and starts at noon ET.

Where is Pistons open practice?

The practice will be held at Wayne State Fieldhouse, which is the home court of the Motor City Cruise. In addition to seeing some of the new Pistons like Tobias Harris, Ron Holland and Bobi Klintman, fans can expect some extras.

According to the Pistons’ press release:

“Open practice will also feature the 2024-25 Detroit Pistons Dancers, photo opportunities with Pistons mascot Hooper, ticket booths for upcoming games and concessions available for purchase. The first 1,000 fans that arrive for the open practice will also receive free popcorn.”

How to get tickets to Pistons open practice and how much does it cost?

Admission is free and you can get tickets here.

You are limited to four per person, so it’s a great opportunity to grab some friends and go check out what a real NBA practice looks like.

Some things to take note of if you do attend the open practice:

-What is Ausar Thompson working on since he is limited to non-contact drills?

-Who has taken Thompson’s spot in scrimmages?

-Is JB Bickerstaff leaning more on the veterans early on?

-How does Ron Holland’s shot look?

-Does Cade Cunningham look in better shape after the first fully healthy offseason of his career?

The open practice will be the final tune up before the Pistons’ first preseason game at home against the Milwaukee Bucks on October 6th. It’s hard to believe that we are now only three weeks away from the start of the 2024-25 season. Will anything change for the Pistons?

The answer to that question is coming soon.
