Top 5 second-round draft sleepers for the Detroit Pistons
By Tyler Dutton
Jaylen Wells, 6’8 SF, Washington State
Jaylen Wells is definitely an unknown name to the casual college basketball fan. Wells spent his first two seasons at the DII level with Sonoma State before transferring to Washington State this past year. At every stop, however, Wells proved one thing. He’s an elite knock down shooter.
Detroit desperately needs shooting, and Wells connected at almost 42 percent from deep last season. The 6-foot-8 small forward has a quick shot, and is a legit threat from three. When defenders close out aggressively, Jaylen is able to put the ball on the deck and attack the closeout, or find the open teammate for a better look.
Jaylen Wells reminds me of another Washington State product, Klay Thompson. Detroit should take a long look at the elite 20 year old here at 53 if he's still available.
