Melvin Ajinca, 6’8 SF, France

Similar to Jaylen Wells, Melvin Ajinca will be more of a mystery to most people watching the NBA draft. The 6-foot-8, 19 year old Frenchmen most recently played for Saint-Quentin in France, Betclic Elite League. Melvin averaged 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and shot the three ball at 35.7 percent clip. While his three point numbers don’t jump off the page as the other sleepers in this article, Ajinca has shown that he can be an elite spot up three point shooter, and create for himself if need be. He can finish at the rim well, and is a very solid defender, something Detroit could definitely use.

At just 19, there is plenty of room for Melvin to continue improving, which will be needed specifically in the area of ball-handling/playmaking. He clearly falls in a different category than the other, older sleepers here, but Detroit might value potential over maturity and experience.
