Trading for Zach LaVine: Avoid

I've written about this a few times, so I won't belabor the point, but this is not a move the Pistons should make unless they can get him for free.

Even then, I'm not sure, as LaVine is owed a ton of money and is fresh off re-injuring himself in the first game back from an injury.

He's had this issue for his entire career, and the Pistons are a team that has struggled with injuries themselves, so can't take a risk on a guy who is injury-prone and set to make over $136 over the next three seasons after this one.

Given the inevitable Cade Cunningham extension this summer, that would be a LOT of money tied up in a backcourt that has difficulty staying on the court.

Also, as good as LaVine is on offense, he's terrible defensively and are we sure Jaden Ivey won't be as good as him someday? Their same-age numbers are similar and Ivey is making way less money and will be even on the next deal.

I'd rather see the Pistons make some minor, addition-by-subtraction-type moves, or add veterans around the fringe of their rotation than go all-in on the wrong player at the trade deadline.
