Detroit Pistons make sweeping change in proposed trades and signings

James Edwards III of The Athletic (Subscription) has had some great ideas for how to change the Pistons this offseason. I’m starting to wonder if he would have done a better job over the last four seasons than Weaver.

He laid out some scenarios in a recent article and this one stood out to me:

Pistons: Brandon Ingram, Jerami Grant, Jonas Valanciunas

Pelicans: Jalen Duren, 5th pick

Trail Blazers: Jaden Ivey, Evan Fournier, 21st pick

JEIII explains how this will all work, which is a complicated mess of trades and signings that all of these teams would have to agree to in advance. The first challenge would be convincing the other two teams to do all of these things.

The idea of having Cade, Ausar, Ingram, Grant and Valanciunas as a starting five is appealing to those of us who want to see the Pistons win sometime in the next century or so.

I would do this trade in a heartbeat, but I do have questions about some of the pieces.
