The Detroit Pistons have cap space and at least one open roster spot, with a number of ways of how they could use them.

Trajan Langdon could just keep some dry powder in case a deal comes along, either one where the Pistons are landing an impact player or taking on a short-term salary dump for assets.

The second option was one of Troy Weaver’s specialties, but it never worked out, as the Pistons inevitably gave out roster spots and cap space without getting a return that justified that waste or the effect it had on the win column.

Finding value is also key, whether it is in terms of cost in a trade or future salary, the Pistons need to find impact players that will either be on cheap deals or ones that won’t cost much in a trade.

Here are four trade targets that fall into one of those two categories and could end up representing a value on the trade market because of their unique circumstances.

Detroit Pistons trade targets: Jarace Walker

Jarace Walker has only played 33 games in the NBA, so the book is still out on what he can be, but his draft profile shows a player who is like a more-athletic Isaiah Stewart who can do a little more with the ball in his hands.

Do the Pistons really need someone who fits that profile? Not necessarily, but Stewart’s name has already been mentioned in trade rumors, so if the Pistons could get a younger, possibly better version of him who is still on a rookie deal, then why not?

Walker is currently at least third on the power forward depth chart for the Pacers behind Pascal Siakam and Obi Toppin, two players Indiana committed to with contracts this offseason.

Does Walker have a spot in Indiana or will they look to move him? If they do, Indiana can’t expect a huge haul given that Walker has barely played. Given that, is he a player the Pistons could get for little? The Pacers aren’t just going to give him away, but could look to address depth issues at other positions.

As a former top-10 pick, Walker is worth monitoring.
