3 Scenarios the Pistons desparately need to avoid in 2024-25

The Detroit Pistons can’t give up in the home stretch

I absolutely cannot and will not watch the Pistons run out a G-League lineup for the last 20 games again, I just won’t.

For the last five years, we’ve watched the Pistons wave the white flag down the home stretch, holding out veterans with dubious injuries, shutting down young players to “protect” them and running out lineups full of guys who are not NBA players.

How has that worked out?

The Pistons egregiously tanked for four straight seasons only to end up with the #5 pick in three of them.

Their young players missed out on crucial reps and learning experiences often watching from the bench when they could have been out there.

This team needs to learn how to compete from end to end, not how to play 50 games and give up. They need to have something to play for, a goal and play some meaningful games this season even if they come up short.

It’s insulting to fans to lose on purpose just for a 14 percent (max) chance at a teenager who might be a good player in five years. Enough is enough.

I want to see this team compete from game one to game 82, for them to fight through minor injuries, establish themselves in the roles that they hope to be in when this team is regularly making the playoffs.

Excitement for the Pistons is already low, if they tank another season away in the end, people are going to start to walk away and you couldn’t blame them. This culture of losing has to change, and it starts by competing every night.
