The Detroit Pistons' attention has quickly shifted to the offseason and likely earlier than anyone hoped after securing the No. 1 seed in the regular season.
Before the team's second-round exit in the postseason, it was clear that Trajan Langdon's top priority in the coming months would be to find Cade Cunningham a reliable second option. Now, the need to do so has only grown much larger.
ESPN Insider Shams Charania has already linked the Pistons to several big name trade targets, but arguably the most noteworthy was Trey Murphy III, a dynamic forward who could be on his way out of New Orleans in the coming months.
However, a recent post from the Indiana Pacers presents a major obstacle that Detroit could have to account for, and at the forefront of the issue is Tyrese Haliburton.
Pacers would be an ideal fit for Trey Murphy III
The Pacers' social media team posted a recent photo of their star guard, Tyrese Haliburton, attending an Indiana Fever game.
Haliburton supporting the local WNBA team isn't unusual in the slightest, but it's the person sitting next to him that should be concerning to the Pistons.

To the right of Haliburton in the first photo is Trey Murphy III, an ideal trade target for Detroit, who could also be a perfect fit for the Pacers.
Obviously, Haliburton and Murphy are likely just friends hanging out, but having the dynamic forward in the building during an offseason could spell bad news for Detroit if Indiana puts their mind towards making a big move for the Pelicans forward this offseason.
Indiana has made it clear with the trade for Ivica Zubac ahead of the trade deadline that they hope to be contending when Haliburton returns from his ruptured achilles next season, and with the tools to make another swing for a talent like Murphy, not only would it put the Pacers in a prime position to improve, but it would essentially block an East rival in the Pistons from getting better.
Pistons have to make a move, even if Murphy isn't it
Murphy is probably the most ideal target for the Pistons this offseason, but even if he's not the answer, there's no doubt that Detroit has to make a move.
The front office just saw firsthand how impactful it is to have two legit scoring options on a team, and with the weight on Cunningham's shoulder eventually bringing Detroit down, it's obvious that if the NBA Finals are going to return to the Motor City any time soon, talent needs to be added to the roster.
Still, if Murphy is indeed available, the Pistons may want to consider beating the Pacers to the punch.
