Stu Jackson:

"Sources confirm @pistons making pitch to @BrooklynNets for Joe Johnson for Brandon Jennings, @realtuffjuice @JonasJerebko and picks."

You might remember Stu Jackson from the time Stan Van Gundy offered him the Pistons’ general-manager job. So, Jackson – who coached with Van Gundy at Wisconsin – could definitely be positioned to know the details of Detroit’s pitch.

But why is Jackson – now a Big East associate commissioner – reporting news on Twitter using anonymous sources? Is he really credible?

I hope not. I disliked that trade – which would also have to include Joel Anthony or Luigi Datome in addition to Brandon Jennings, Caron Butler and Jonas Jerebko – without a draft pick included. I really hate it with the Pistons sending Brooklyn a pick. Really, I don’t see a desirable Joe Johnson-to-Detroit trade at all.

Van Gundy has maintained the Pistons won’t surrender future assets for short-term help. The declining Johnson shouldn’t – and probably won’t – alter those plans.
