The Detroit Pistons will have only $51 million of guaranteed money on the books heading into the 2020 offseason. Here’s a summary of the their free agents.

The Detroit Pistons have a lot of salary coming off the books at the conclusion of the 2019-20 season with only $51 million of guaranteed money remaining at this point.

I’ll be giving a summary of each one of the Pistons Free Agents and what they could do to help their chances of staying in the Motor City. Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin are the main Pistons under contract along with rookie Sekou Doumbouya, and sophomores Bruce Brown and Khyri Thomas.

With Detroit being one of the small market destinations, the best option for the Pistons to become better is through the draft and re-signing big talent. Re-signing key players like Andre Drummond will most likely be the best course of action.

Fans of the Pistons are big on trying to re-sign their All-Star center and signing a third star to create a big three in Detroit. The problem is the next loaded free agency class is in 2021, not this summer.

The top free agents are all restricted such as Jaylen Brown, Brandon Ingram, Pascal SiakamBuddy Hield and Anthony Davis who has publicly stated his desire to re-sign with the Lakers. That leaves Andre Drummond, DeMar DeRozan, Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry at the top of the list.

All have ties to the Pistons, Drummond is obviously a Piston and the other three were all coached and developed by former Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey. All thrived in Toronto and could make a great big three along Andre and Blake. We don’t know if any of them will sign with the Pistons but let’s look at the current Pistons and how they can continue their time in Detroit.
