English was a fan favorite while playing for the Pistons, but his on-court production never matched the adulation.

I don’t know whether this is the end of the 26-year-old’s playing career or merely a diversion. But whenever he permanently gets into coaching, he should succeed. He’s enthusiastic and a good communicator and leader, and he was a smart player.

Maybe when he’s leading his own team someday, he’ll talk about how his time with the Pistons – his only NBA stop – influenced him. He didn’t exactly help the Pistons, but if they helped him in some way, that’d make me happy.
