Reserve forward Anthony Tolliver suffered a broken nose in Tuesday’s 103-84 loss to the Denver Nuggets. Tolliver, 32, is averaging 6.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game this season. He is questionable for tonight’s contest against the Atlanta Hawks.

Detroit Pistons’ forward Anthony Tolliver suffered a broken nose during Tuesday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets, according to Rod Beard of The Detroit News:

An elbow in the first half caused him to miss the remainder of the game. In just under 14 minutes of play, Tolliver finished with three points, one rebound and two assists.

The former Creighton Bluejay is averaging 6.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists this season. He’s been a key contributor off the bench, offering versatility on defense and outside shooting.

The Pistons’ second unit has kept them in games as of late, especially against the Warriors and Celtics.

Albeit in a loss to Boston, Tolliver contributed 15 points off the bench on Sunday. His reverse layup with 10:46 remaining cut the deficit to 75-63. Detroit had trailed by as many as 18 in the third quarter.

Head coach Stan Van Gundy has clearly put his trust in Detroit’s oldest player. Tolliver started the fourth quarter last Friday against Golden State. He played well over 11 minutes in the final period, as the Pistons nearly upset the defending champions.

As Beard alluded to, Tolliver will most likely don a mask in his return to the floor. The fact that the Pistons haven’t ruled him out indefinitely is a good sign. So there’s a chance he play could in the upcoming road trip.

Detroit, losers of seven straight, will visit the lowly Atlanta Hawks Thursday night. The Hawks currently own the worst record in the NBA at 6-21. If there was ever a bounce back game for the Pistons, this would be it.

Tolliver, meanwhile, is questionable for Thursday. The Pistons will also visit the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, before returning home to host the Orlando Magic on Sunday.
