Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond is known for his dominance on the basketball court. But the 24-year-old is also making a name for himself behind the mic.

After appearing on several tracks over the past few years, Andre Drummond seems to be continuing his journey into the rap game. Last week, he debuted a song with Tailz and Dexter Darden, remixing Tyga’s song “Taste.”

Originally using the pseudonym “Dre Drumm”, Drummond is now going by the alias “Drummxnd” in his rap features.

After being asked about his rap career last year, Drummond simply responded by saying, “I’m not a rapper.”

However, after listening to this track, it’s clear that he has some talent and could pursue a side career a la Damian Lillard. This is the longest video I’ve seen him featured on, and it’s a polished, full music video. It will be interesting to hear from him this season regarding his hip-hop interests, and whether or not we could see more from him in the future.

With his huge contract, Drummond certainly has the money and the talent to take a shot at a side hustle in rap. But it remains to be seen if he’s willing to invest the time. This could very well just be a fun thing for him to do with his friends in his spare time.

Shout out to Detroit

The Detroit Pistons get a nice shout out in Drummond’s verse, for any fans who might have doubted his appreciation for the club.

“From the CT, yeah the East Coast. Yeah, they made me, but Detroit paid me.”

No matter where Drummond’s rap career goes, it will certainly be a fun item for fans to keep an eye on. Detroit does have an underrated and strong rap scene. So it will be interesting to see who the big man collaborates with next.

One thing is for sure, he probably won’t be collaborating with Lonzo Ball anytime soon.
