To no one’s surprise, Reggie Jackson will start at point guard next season.

Injuries to Jackson have derailed Detroit’s playoff hopes the last two years. He missed the first 21 games of the 2016-17 season due to treatment for left knee tendonitis, and a UCL sprain on his right thumb.

Last year, Jackson suffered a Grade 3 right ankle sprain during a December victory against the Indiana Pacers. He missed the next 24 games before returning on March 20.

When healthy, the 28-year-old is one of the better pick-and-roll ball handlers in the game.

But he’s played just 97 games since leading the Pistons to the playoffs in 2015-16. Their success will largely be determined on whether or not Jackson can remain on the floor.
