The Detroit Pistons fell the Memphis Grizzlies 73-70 on Saturday in Las Vegas. It was another night filled with missed shots and numerous turnovers. Detroit is now 0-2 in Summer League play.

The Detroit Pistons were able to keep up with the Memphis Grizzlies – even though Memphis seemed to have more chemistry, having played in Utah prior to Las Vegas.

The Grizzlies won two of their three games in the Utah Summer League. Their one loss came against the San Antonio Spurs, who were led by Derrick White.

The Pistons struggled to put the ball in the hoop on Saturday, scoring only 70 points on 36.2 percent shooting. They also shot just 31 percent from 3-point range. The numbers are a bit concerning, given that only one game remains before the single elimination tournament.

Henry Ellenson shot 5-for-21 from the field, and 1-for-10 from beyond the arc. He also had seven turnovers while committing four personal fouls. Quite a few of those turnovers were traveling violations, as he passed on many wide open 3-point attempts to drive the lane.

Bruce Brown shot 3-for-10 from the floor, and 1-for-4 from deep. Those totals speak for themselves. However, Brown played well defensively and pulled down seven rebounds. That’s impressive for a guard.

Khyri Thomas had a respectable 13 points and three rebounds as the starting small forward. Thomas shot 5-for-11 from the field, and well as 3-5 from the 3-point line.

Thomas had a plus/minus of minus seven tonight, which isn’t ideal. But for the second straight game, he was very aggressive on defense.

Thomas committed only one foul in 31 minutes of play.

The box score was (again) ugly for the Pistons, who finished with 16 total turnovers. They did a much better job defensively, however, allowing only 73 points.
