The Detroit Pistons Starting Lineup… If they were Rappers
C – Andre Drummond – J. Cole
Andre Drummond is one of the best centers in the league. Period. He might be the best rebounder in the history of the game, by the time he chooses to hang up his uniform.
But the national media hates him. Why? Because he doesn’t shoot three’s like Karl-Anthony Towns. He doesn’t pass the ball like Nikola Jokic. So they call him a bum, and they say that he’s overpaid and lazy.
This is exactly what happens with J. Cole.

J. Cole is not Kendrick Lamar. His topics aren’t deep enough and his ideas are not as creative. But that doesn’t make Cole a bad artist, just because he’s not quite as good as the best artist in the World.
J. Cole doesn’t need any help. He can carry an album and go platinum without features. The same way that Drummond can impact a game, without any play calls for him.
Since 2018, Cole shared a ton of verses with other artists as he put out stand out features on a ton of different albums, including J.I.D., 21 Savage, Jay Rock and Offset. Drummond even saw success last year as a facilitator, sharing the rock before Griffin was acquired in a trade, which let Drummond go back to doing what he does best.
Neither Drummond or Cole will ever get the respect that they deserve, and that’s okay. They don’t need it. When it’s all said it done, it will be impossible to ignore their production, whether you’re a fan of theirs or not.
