Each Detroit Pistons player’s journey to the NBA
Derrick Rose
A top-five player in high school rankings system and was one of the most sought after recruits in the country. The 10-year vet out of Chicago, Illinois played college ball at University of Memphis. He also was the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and youngest ever league MVP (2010-11 season) at 22 years old.
Rose game has derailed due to injuries over the last couple years. He is no longer the same explosive, high-athletic, transcending talent who took the league by storm. He at the very least is still a competent guard who can pick his spots and keep an offense at even kill.
This past season was a redemption year for Rose. He averaged double digits in points for the first time in two years, at 18 points per game in 51 games. On October 31, 2018 Derrick Rose scored a career-high 50 points against the Utah Jazz, he set NBA Twitter on fire with his performance.
Rose should very well be on the watch for potential Sixth Man of the Year candidate with the Pistons. The Pistons will provide Rose every opportunity to excel with his new team and perhaps even overachieve. A healthy Rose should be one of the many difference makers for Pistons in need of playmakers off the bench.
