Sekou Doumbouya

Sekou Doumbouya is from Conakry, Guinea, he discovered the game of basketball at 12-years-old when his family moved to France. He played professional basketball overseas for four years playing for the CSP Limoges. Doumbouya was taken number 15th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.

He is an international talent who brings raw untapped potential to the Pistons roster. Doumbouya  possesses real size and speed with unlimited athleticism. He was the youngest player in this year draft. That’s an incredible positive thing on his side age.

History often times points to the youngest player in draft being a good thing . Here is a list of elite examples Devin Booker, Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Durant , Kevin Garnett, Andrew Bynum and Tracy McGrady. Now it is not yet clear if he will be anything like those worthy like All-Stars and Hall of Famers, however the odds seem to be in his favor.

Doumbouya has drawn favorable comparison to Pascal Siakam and that’s a fair assessment if everything breaks right for him. Detroit will certainly make sure they invest in him in ways they did not do for Darko Milicic.

Time will  tell what kind of player he will become. Detroit better hope they find themselves on the better part of the ladder this time around.
