Detroit Pistons vs Brooklyn Nets 2019-20 Season Preview
Significantly improved Nets
As it’s now no secret to any NBA fan, the Brooklyn Nets had one of the most remarkable splashes in free agency that the league has ever seen. Adding Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan as their new main core will see them as one of the title favorites in 2020 when Kevin Durant has fully healed from his Achilles injury.
As the offseason advances however, some interesting developments have risen as Wilson Chandler was recently suspended for 25 games for violating the NBA’s banned substance policy. Wilson was expected to play a majority of his minutes at power forward, a position where Brooklyn lacks depth the most.
Along with that comes the more recent news of Rodions Kurucs, the emerging young star who had a promising rookie season. There have been recent allegations that involves Kurucs assaulting his ex-girlfriend which led to his arrest, the New York Daily News’ Trevor Boyer and Graham Rayman reported.
The significance of these two developments cannot be overstated, as the Nets may be down two forwards to open the season (depending on what the team and what the league do about Kurucs’ situation) with not much hope on the horizon, unless they sign Carmelo Anthony.
The Brooklyn Nets improved substantially, and it’s widely expected that Joe Harris will continue his reign as one of the league’s deadliest three point shooters. Not only that, but LeVert fresh off of a new contract extension has a lot to prove as well. It’s also worth adding that he was far and away the best player wearing a Nets uniform during their playoff series against Philadelphia.
