Pistons O vs. Kings D

Detroit’s offense flowed best through Griffin. It was somewhat lost without him the first time the two teams met. This is a series he needs to play because the teams are in similar spots, competing for playoff spots in their respective conferences.

As Rose and Kennard work out their chemistry in the backcourt, they need to be on point to attack the Kings’ largest perceived weakness. Joseph will hold his own as a backup point guard but will be challenged with keeping up with Rose’s quickness and ability to score at all three levels. But Kennard is the X-factor in the series, as he will be for most of the season, as the Kings don’t have a true backup two-guard on their roster.

Griffin and Drummond will have to be forces. Cauley-Stein was a tough matchup for Drummond because he could match up with his strength and is also a glass-eater. Now, the Kings don’t have someone to match him with Bagley and Giles likely patrolling the paint. Neither of which are able to deal with Griffin’s strength in the post and quickness on the perimeter.

Morris as a backup big is going to have to match Dedmon’s physicality in the post. It’s going to be a battle to secure extra possessions on both ends of the glass, too.

Let’s flip to the other end of the court.
