Heat offseason changes

After seeing several roadblocks in their way – the Miami Heat were finally able to land their guy. As of July 2nd, Jimmy Butler was officially traded to the Heat and eventually signed a four year contract worth just over $140 million. Will this in be enough to allow the Heat to take a step forward this season?

Trading away Hassan Whiteside in the Butler trade in exchange for Meyers Leonard opens up the door for fan favorite Bam Adebayo to see starting minutes, with Leonard coming off of the bench.

This is arguably where Miami’s biggest issue lies – their contingency plan. National media and the Heat fan base are more or less adamant that this is a top eight team in the Eastern Conference. The over-valuation of first round pick Tyler Herro – a player who was rumored to be pulled from any trade talks involving Russell Westbrook has at times gotten out of hand.

The problem may very well end up being that they’re putting all of their faith in three players who are 23 years old or younger, and Butler. That is about as ominous as you can get.

The Heat added Tyler to hit perimeter shots – and that’s what he does best. Drawing comparisons to Luke Kennard – Tyler looked impressive in the Summer League and has continued to build large expectations for himself this upcoming season.
