Point guards

FanDuel is tough to consider Jackson or Collin Sexton, who both have $6k-plus salaries. Jackson will get a fair volume of shots, likely around 12, and will have a handful of assists so it may be worth a flier, at least based off his first two preseason games. That’s exactly why he’s a great play on DraftKings though.

Values

DK: Reggie Jackson ($4,200 – value at 21 DKFP)
FD: Derrick Rose ($3,500 – value at 17.5 FDFP)

I don’t understand the pricing for either of the Pistons point guards. For one, Rose hit value with 18 points scored in his previous game and he also added five assists to his total. As a volume scorer off the bench and playing alongside Luke Kennard, that seems like an easy value play.

As previously mentioned, Jackson is getting around 12 shots per game through two preseason games. After playing 26 minutes on Wednesday, Jackson should receive similar volume and as a 3-point shooter, those shots could prove valuable.

Other considerations

Darius Garland is an intriguing play at $4,200 on FanDuel. He played 14 minutes in the Cavs’ preseason opener and hit all four of his shots for nine points. I’d expect to see more minutes against NBA competition so he can adjust to the pace.

Should Rose not play tonight, Tim Frazier is worth a look as a minimum-salaried player on DraftKings ($4,000) and FanDuel ($3,500). He was signed as the de facto third string point guard with the anticipation of receiving solid minutes with load management and injury possibilities, so the volume should be there off the bench.
