Tony Snell

Snell got the start at power forward and had his most productive game of the preseason. He finished the game with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 2-for-5 from three. Snell has shot 38.2 percent on 3-pointers for his career, but the problem is volume. He averaged just under three attempts per game last year, so it was good to see him take a few more threes.

While Snell’s calling card is his perimeter defense, the Pistons need to get more out of him offensively. Snell can shoot but has never been a volume scorer and that needs to change. Detroit would benefit greatly from Snell getting 10-12 shots a game, especially if most of them are corner three’s. The Pistons must find perimeter scoring, which starts with Snell getting more shots.

Christian Wood

Can we just put Christian Wood on the roster already? I’m not sure what more the Pistons’ front office needs to see.

Wood continued his impressive preseason with 19 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes of play. Wood once again made some mistakes on the defensive end, but his motor and energy were one of the bright spots of the game, including an impressive coast-to-coast drive that Wood finished in traffic and a nice give-and-go dunk with Derrick Rose.

Wood has done nothing to hurt himself this preseason and has made it almost impossible for the Pistons not to keep him. Detroit lacks youth and athleticism and Wood brings plenty of both. Though Wood did miss his two 3-point attempts, he showed nice touch at the line, going 5-for-6 and added a block and a steal to go with two assists.

Wood definitely has holes in his game, especially defensively, but he has proven that he is more than just a flash and deserves a spot on the roster. If he gets cut Pistons Twitter may actually explode with rage.
