Detroit Pistons player grades in 119-110 win over Indiana Pacers
Shooting Guards
Bruce Brown: B
Bruce Brown had a traditional Bruce Brown game where much of his game didn’t show up in the box score. Brown started the game and was on the floor for the opening series of defensive stops that limited the Pacers to a measly six points in the first six minutes. We all know that Brown isn’t an offensive machine however missing half of his six shots, all layups, really is tough to see. Adding four rebounds and four assists to his good defense made me give him an above average grade in his limited 20 minutes in his first game of his sophomore season.
Luke Kennard: A
Luke Kennard was an automatic bucket and had the game of his life. Kennard’s career night of 30 points was highlighted by a deep 3-pointer to beat the third quarter buzzer. Kennard started off slow and didn’t look like he was the same player that took over at the end of the season last year, but boy that changed.
Once Luke started to get hot, the Pacers were in trouble as they had no answer for his barrage of shots. Shooting 8-for-13 from the field, going 6-of-9 from 3-point range, and 8-for-10 from the free-throw line, die-hard Kennard supporters, led by PistonPowered’s own Eli Bashi, were having a field day loving Luke’s lethal offensive attack when combined with Rose.
As I said with Rose, Kennard and Rose are going to be a lethal combination this season, not just against second units, but starting lineups as the showed by closing the game out.
