Finding unexpected value

The Pistons may have an interesting piece to deal at the trade deadline assuming the season continues to go south.

Langston Galloway has been having a terrific season for Detroit, and opened tonight’s game with 3 three-pointers, including a four-point play. This season Galloway is averaging 13.2 points per game on 45 percent shooting, including 46 percent from three-point range.

More from PistonPowered

He was the subject of regular debate over the offseason, as many Pistons fans had called for him to be traded for a second round pick or some salary filler.

No, I have not forgotten about that crowd.

What Galloway has shown us this season is that he’s more than capable of creating an offensive spark off of the bench. In his last five games, he’s averaging 18.6 points per game on 51 percent shooting and 50 percent from three-point range. Galloway has also been shooting 94 percent from the free throw line, and his consistency has been at an all-time high in a Pistons uniform.

There is an increase in demand for the “3 & D” type of players in today’s NBA, and as it stands Galloway is one of the best and most efficient in the league. If this trend continues, there’s a chance that Detroit could shop Galloway’s services at the deadline in exchange for draft capital.

However, that would be entirely dependent on the direction that the Pistons take moving forward.
