The Pistons are capable of fighting for a win

After Detroit’s second loss in as many games to the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, Blake Griffin mentioned that it seems as if this team loves the feeling of a victory, but doesn’t like the fight in order to achieve it.

While that has certainly felt true at times this season, tonight was an exception. It shouldn’t matter that it was against a struggling Spurs team, because Detroit is more than capable of playing down to those types of teams. Not only that, but the Pistons are actually in the same situation as San Antonio currently is. This was a tremendous win.

Detroit came out firing on all cylinders, with three of their first four baskets coming from three-point range. After finishing the night shooting 48 percent from downtown, it was easily one of the better offensive performances we’ve seen this season from Detroit.

Seemingly everyone got a piece of the action, with four players on the bench scoring in double figures, and three in the starting lineup. Even the Pistons first round draft pick this summer Sekou Doumbouya got to see his first minutes of NBA action, logging just three minutes but scoring four points.

The Pistons shot 59 percent from the field. That’s going to be good enough to net you a win against any team in the league. The ball movement was sharp, assisting on just over half of their made field goals (63 percent).
