Hope in a hopeless place

Despite the Pistons woes tonight, there were still some bright spots that deserve proper recognition.

What in the world has gotten into Langston Galloway this season? Tonight he scored 20 points on 70 percent shooting, including 80 percent from three-point range. He was quietly one of the only consistently productive pieces of the Pistons offense tonight.

In the absence of Luke Kennard, Galloway stepped up and played a game high 38 minutes for Detroit tonight.

More from PistonPowered

He’s been solid all season long and this is significant for a few reasons. One, because the Pistons actually have one of their wings stepping up on both ends of the floor – something that they seldom had last season. Two, because if things do go south this season for Detroit, then they’ll have him to fall back on as trade bait.

His ability to quickly navigate through screens and find space along the perimeter to put up a quick shot is unmatched by his teammates. His quick release and his ability to guard multiple positions has helped Detroit find the limited success that they have this year.

The Pistons currently lead the league in three-point percentage, and it’s largely due to both his and Kennard’s downtown performances. On the season so far, Galloway is averaging 12.2 points per game on 43 percent shooting, including 42 percent from three-point range.

He’s stepped up and played huge minutes when Detroit has needed it most.
