1. Rose’s value hasn’t been higher
Rose has had to battle to get back to the way he has been playing. He’s proven he can play shooting guard in his one year with the Minnesota Timberwolves and again as a point guard with the Pistons.
He’s had some brilliant moments, including a 50-point game with the Timberwolves and several memorable game-winners with the Pistons this season. The explosiveness, quickness and ability to get to the rim are all still there.
Rose is playing his best basketball post-injury. He’s played 32 games this season and played 39 games prior to tearing his ACL in 2011-12. The numbers are comparable in a per-100 possessions comparison. He’s noticeably improved as a shooter, climbing up to splits of .484/.330/.878 this season.

Teams no what they’re getting with Rose. He’s a high-usage guard that is strong attacking the rim on drives, using his speed. It’s what made Rose great before his injury and he’s regained his confidence.
He’s also been relatively healthy with the era of load management helping him. He played 51 games with the Timberwolves, sitting out the final 15 games with a chip fracture in his right elbow. But over the summer, Minnesota clarified that Rose could have played but they shut him down for his own well-being with the playoffs out of reach.
Even with Detroit he’s played 33 of 39 games while on a minutes restriction.
